1700 participants from the world of sports such as IOC, National Olympic Committees, World recognised international sport federations and all leaders in sports joined the opening ceremony of the 2014 SportAccord Convention.

The President of the IOC, Dr.Thomas Bach delivered a powerful speech about the Olympic agenda in 2020 and the cooperation between the IOC, NOCs and International Federations. He also congratulated the new President of the World Games Association, José Perurena and ensured the cooperation between the IOC and the IWGA.

SportAccord President Marius Vizer, welcomed everyone, citing that the SportAccord Convention is the largest gathering of all stakeholders in sport.

President of Turkish Olympic Committee Uğur Erdener and Turkish Minister of Sport Akif Çağatay Kılıç made a speech on behalf of the Turkish government.
