Queen’s Cup Press Conference

10 August 2009 (Bangkok, Thailand) – A press conference was held at the Windsor Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand to promote the Queen’s Cup Muaythai Competition held in Honour of Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand’s 77th birthday. The event  will be held on Wednesday, the 12th  of August at Sanum Luang Night Bazaar (Bangkok). The competition will kick off at 18:00.

There will be fifteen bouts featuring female fighters from Thailand, France, Finland, Australia, England, Canada, Malaysia, Iran, Italy, the USA, South Africa, and Japan.

The Queen’s Cup is organised annually as a partnership between the World Muaythai Council and One Songchai Productions.

The press conference was chaired by H.E. General Pitchitr Kullavanajaya, Privy Councillor to His Majesty the King of Thailand, General Chetta Thanajaro, President of WMC, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, President of IFMA, Stephan Fox and Thailand's most famous Muaythai Promoter Songchai Ratanasuban. This prestigious event in honour of Her Majesty the Queen also marks Mother's Day in Thailand. Special interest will be paid towards all of the female fights.

Special guests included King’s Cup Entertainment and Black Hawk Contest AG, CEO Mr. BennyAebischer. Mr. Aebischer announced a commitment made with the Honourable Mr. Songchai and the WMC to help to promote Muaythai and the beautiful Kingdom of Thailand through the annual King’s Cup Tournament. He announced, “December the 5th will be the birthday of His Majesty the King. This year, we are planning to do the biggest King's Cup in the history of the event. This year will be the largest prize purse ever awarded. It is our goal to promote Thailand to the world and have the world join in celebrating with the entire Kingdom.”

Other notables in attendance were:  Contender Asia Season Two contestant, Paolo Balicha from Switzerland, Master Toddy, and Ms. Asian Supermodel.

The Queen's Cup event will be televised live for 3-hours. The President of WMC will be presiding over the occassion.
