Sofia Olofsson won the gold medal (weight class 54 kg) at the IFMA Muaythai World Championships on her home ground in Sweden. She was also selected as best Female athlete at the World Championships. She had earlier become the first woman to qualify for The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland, after winning the gold medal at the IFMA Muaythai Royal World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand in 2015 and was awarded the female athlete trophy of the event, donated by her Royal Highness the Queen of Thailand . Olofsson stated earlier, in an IWGA social media campaign, that she is very much looking forward to The World Games 2017 and that she is proud to be one of the muaythai elite athletes to have qualified and to be at an event patronised by the IOC.

IFMA is incredibly proud of Sofia, as an excellent athlete and an outstanding ambassador for the sport of muaythai. She has fully earned this honour and can be assured that the muaythai family across all national federations and her fans across the world celebates her success   in the true IFMA Spirit – One World One Muaythai!

This is a fantastic achievement for IFMA and the sport of muaythai, which will make its debut at the World Games as an outstanding, Olympic recognised sport!
