Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lumphang

06.04.2011
Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong LumphangGreetings to all Muaythai fans and once again I, Pong Lumphang, have updates for you again about Muaythai. Lately the weather has been changing all of a sudden from hot to rain and then unusually cold weather everywhere in Thailand – even Bangkok. With this kind of weather, my advice to all the boxers and boxing is to be careful and try to stay as healthy as possible – otherwise you might have to visit the doctor.

In the Muaythai World program on Sunday 25 March, Petchyindee Promotion presented “Toyota Marathon Boxing” of the 70-kilogram category. Akepracha Meenayothin, an old champ, and Petchmunkong Kaiyanghadao Gym, the Izuzu champ, would fight against the professional muaythai fighters from abroad. The broadcast was on Channel 7 from 14.00 to 17.00. This program was held in Saraburi province.

Also on Monday 27 March, Korkiet Group also arranged a Muaythai Expo of 9 Nations in Petchburi province which was broadcast on Channel 9 from 12.00 to 13.00 hours. The main match was the Rajjadumnern Title fight of 154 pounds between Chanachai Kaewsumrit and Mustafa Abdulrahim from Iran (160 lbs).

Songkran festival is approaching and the schedules for the Thai boxers are tightly packed. Other than Muaythai, Laos and Burmese boxing are selling very well too. Especially from 11 – 14 April for Pa Jaew Maesord who at the moment will not accept any request to arrange boxing for a while. The boxers are also stuck with busy schedules and for now they will not be able to accept any new requests for a while.

Talking about our neighbors, both Burma and Cambodia are very serious when it comes to boxing too. They consider boxing to be a sport in their blood, especially for the super stars such as Lonjao Way Macshawn Shaw Shark whose performing fee for each fight is about 1,800,000 – 2,000,000 MMK or 60,000 Baht. As for the Cambodian boxer Vanviva, he is the new star whose fight fee is about $2,000 or 60,000 Baht. In the city, the economy is better than in the countryside because the Muaythai superstars’ performing fee varies about 100,000 – 120,000 Baht. If the boxers go abroad, the fee will be even higher.

The Muaythai programs abroad for April include “The Bodyguard” program in France on April 2. Nonsai Sor Sanyakorn will be competing in a World Muaythai Association fight of 165 pounds. And Akepol Polchareon will be fighting in a Muaythai tournament (65 kilos) along with another 7 boxers from Europe. After that on April 6 in Yorkshire, England, Saenchai Chinbimuaythai will be fighting against Liam Harrison from England. Moreover, Rungravee will box against Demian Trainer of France. On April 21, in the I-1 program in Hong Kong, other than the Thai boxers who have settled there, the French brothers Antuan and Leo Siangboxing will be traveling across to the former British colony to participate in this program too.

As for Muaythai abroad last week, on Thursday the 24th in Hong Kong, Srimuang Singhsuanngen brought Rittijak-Yutthajak Kaewsumrid, the two brothers, to fight against the Iranian boxers Masood and Besad.

Preparation is ongoing for this year’s Muaythai Fight that will take place on May 14 during the Cannes Film Festival, France. At the moment, visas are being prepared for the boxers and staff. The fans should not miss this program because there will be Thai stars such as Buakaw Por Pramuk, Yodsanklai Fairtex and Saiyok Pumpanmuang participating in this program in France. The live broadcast is on Channel 3 for the Thai fans not to miss this exciting program.
