Elite Boxing Germany

07.04.2011
Elite Boxing GermanyElite Boxing passed another major milestone last weekend when its new German-based subsidiary held its first official event at the Congress Centrum in the southern German city of Heidenheim.

The Heidenheimer Fight Night was organised by Elite Boxing Germany under the close supervision of its director, Serdar Karaca, who is already well-known in Germany for a series of martial arts events he has produced under the Hype FC brand.

Having impressed with his professionalism and ability when working closely with Elite Boxing to co-promote the Thailand VS Germany event in the German city of Ulm last November, Serdar was drafted in by EB to head up the new German-based subsidiary that will serve as its European base.

Following the success of the Heidenheimer Fight Night, the appointment of Serdar already appears to have been a wise move by EB. The Bangkok-based company’s founder, Toli Makris, said of Serdar, “We already knew his pedigree but we are delighted with the way he handled last weekend’s event. We are confident that this is going to be the beginning of a long a fruitful relationship.”

The German public seemed to agree with that assessment. A capacity crowd of over 1,000 packed in to the Congress Centrum and they weren’t disappointed.

The day began with an extensive martial arts exhibition in the futuristic Congress Centrum Heidenheim, but the real action began in the evening with the very impressive fight card of 20 fights in five different disciplines including Queensbury rules boxing, MMA, Brazilian Jujitsu and combat sambo as well as muaythai.
It was a real martial arts extravaganza that kept the crowd entertained all evening, but the highlight was undoubtedly the appearance of the former WKA European champion and EB team member Bjorn Muci Schaufler.

Schaufler is now based in Bangkok where he plays a leading role in the merchandising division of Elite Boxing. However, he previously used Heidenheim as his training base and was backed by strong local support.

“The Pain Machine” as Schaufler is known to his legions of fans was taking on Marco Hess in the main fight of the event. And he got off to a fast and furious start. With the crowd roaring him on, the local favourite aimed several heavy kicks at the legs of his less-experienced opponent who was already beginning to bruise badly.

As the second round began, the crowd sensed that Hess wouldn’t last much longer and they were right. Already greatly troubled by his battered legs, he fell awkwardly and damaged his shoulder so badly that the referee had no option but to stop the fight. Schaufler took the honours on a TKO. It was the win that the local crowd wanted and a fitting end to a great event.

Following the success of last weekend’s event, attention has already moved now to next event – the Thailand VS Europe event at the Carl Benz Arena in Stuttgart on September 17.
