Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang Volume.3

14.05.2011
Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang Volume.3Greetings to all Muaythai fans. Once again in this weekly column of Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang, I will give you the international news updates of Muaythai.

The first news is about the rescheduling of some matches that will take place this week. Starting with Friday, 6 May 2011 in Lyon, France, Bovy Sor Udomsorn was at first scheduled to fight against Liam Harrison but it was later announced that Liam has resigned from this competition. So Chibi Hichem, a French boxer, has been brought in to replace Liam in the 69-Kilo fight.

Chibi Hichem is not so well-known even in his native France, but he is a lot larger than Bovy. Going back to the end of last year, he came to fight in the Royal ceremony near Klong Lhord, and lost to Sammuk Sasiprapa Gym in a controversial decision that almost led to a conflict between the boxing fans.

For Thai Fight, if anyone turns on channel 3, they will always see the news updates about this program. The live broadcast for this program will be on 14 May 2011 from 11 pm to 1 am (in the Thailand time zone). The Thai Fight staff of about 80 people will travel to France on the 11th and for this program, I will also join the staff too! For the fans who love International Muaythai or Muaythai World, on the 14th, do not go to bed too early but wait for Thai Fight Extreme 2011 which will be a very big and awesome program.

Moving to America, UFC has become very famous and a big hit, but now the fighters of Ultimate Fighting are focusing more on boxing techniques rather than wrestling alone. The result of this is that it makes Muaythai popular once again because the fighters/boxers must practice and focus more on Thai-style kick boxing.

Ex-boxer, Pongsan Aekyothin, who lives in California and now makes a living from organizing boxing matches, will arrange 2 programs. On 9 July, 2011, Aekpracha Meenayothin, the Toyota Champ will fight against Chonlaek Kaewsamrit, and Kornpetch Petchrajjapak will be fighting against the Muaythai boxers from all around the world.

After that, another very big event will be arranged on 5 November 2011.  Lerdsila Chumpae Tour, who is now America’s favourite, will be joining the program as well as Oat Poothong from Cambodia. And finally, Saiyok Windy Sport will also be fighting to defend his Lumphini title in California! As for Pongsan, he is scheduled to be coming to Thailand to negotiate about Mature Muaythai in the middle of June.

As for Saiyok, he has a very tight schedule. Even promoters from China are willing to pay $20,000 or about 600,000 Baht for him to fight in a Chinese competition in China under Santa rules. But Madam Voice Windy Sport and Vice president, Suktad, declined the offer because Saiyok is not specialized in fighting with this kind of rule. However, they will send Armin Black Dragon Gym to fight in this Chinese competition instead.

Recently on May 1, 2011, Armin went to China to fight under Santa and K-1 rules in Zhengzhou, China where he drew against the Chinese Santa champion. However, many observers remarked that Armin deserved to win.

Saiyok will join the Thai Fight program on 14 May. But for May 31, 2011, he will be traveling to Hong Kong to fight against Andre Coolbill. After that, Petchyindee Promotion will also bring him to fight in a Toyota Marathon competition in Hadyai, Songkla against another 7 boxers from around the world. The organizers have guaranteed that the program will be even more intense than before. Saiyok will then be traveling to France and America at the end of November to join a Thailand Vs Holland event by Slamm Event promotion once again.

I have been asked a lot recently about the disappearance of the Thailand Vs Challenger program. I can confirm after speaking to Mr. Toli Makris about the plan for this year that it will be going ahead with 5 scheduled events. There will be a Grand Opening on 23 July at the elegant VIP ballroom for 500 occupants of the River City Complex in Bangkok. The boxers include Kaoklai Kaennorsing versus Cyrus Washington (80 Kg.) followed by Samranchai 96 Penang versus Antoine Siangboxing. Nonsai Sor Sanyakorn will also be fighting against Ole Or Piripinyo in this program.

Thailand Vs Challenger will once again feature in a co-promotion at the Queens Cup in Bangkok on August 12. After that, on 17 September, 2011 at the Mercedes Benz Arena in a complex that includes the home stadium of Stuttgart football team, Samranchai 96 Penang will be fighting against Fardy Merza, an Australian-Syrian boxer. This will be followed by Saenchainoi Pumpanmuang versus Antoine Siangboxing, and Nonsai Sor Sanyakorn will be fighting against an as yet unconfirmed German boxer. Those boxers then will also be traveling to Malaysia during October for another event before finishing off the 2011 series with another event in Germany.

After organizing boxing matches internationally, Korkiet Group will also arrange International Muaythai or Muaythai World which is a big hit in the outer provinces. The next schedule will be on 19 June when they will go to Lopburi in a “Suek Assawin Dum Korkiet” program. Channel 9 will cover this.

Nonthachai Sit O, the ex Lumphini and Rajjadumnern Champion who left Thailand to be a boxing trainer in Milan, recently returned back to be a tutor in the Sit O camp in Buriram. He also keeps in contact with Pongsak Por Ruamrudee who went to be a trainer himself in Beijing where there are many of his students who practice Thai boxing such as Thongchailek Tor Sirachai and Chamuakthong Por Yossanan.

Other than this, for other camps, there are Yordbandit Wor Rajjasima, Rungravi Sor Ploenchit and Saisilek Sakdseepeung, who is developing a career as a trainer and at the same time still boxing to gain extra income as well.

In China, there are many old boxers who moved to make a living in China, such as Koomsap Kiatnakornchon, Anusorn Louksuratham, Panlek Tansoom Gym, Panomtuanlek Nor Sripueng, Sam Kor Kiatmonthep and Ja Maew Pumpanmuang, who is teaching in Hong Kong. Another person who is teaching in Hong Kong and will soon move to England to teach boxing is Chalermpol Kiatsunanta.
