30.06.2011
Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang (30 May, 2011)The first news of this week’s column is about J’Meri’s “Muaythai Tournament 5” program that took place in Geneva, Switzerland on 28 May, 2011. The main match was between Rungrawee Sasiprapa Gym, a strong boxer from Sisaket, and Ama Lunal from France. Rungrawee was able to defeat the French boxer on points, impressing the Swiss fans in the process. Pichet Ruanin, the big boss from Muay Siam, also attended this program with “The Kob” Thakoon Pongsupa.

The program was followed by a seminar with the help from World Professional Muaythai Federation (WPMF) and Ajarn Boonsong Kerdmanee as the instructor. In this meeting, Ekubon Por Muang Ubon and Madam Martina from Black Dragon Swiss, Switzerland also joined the Thai crew.

On 1 October, 2011, Ekubon Por Muang Ubon will arrange the second Muaythai program in Lausanne, Switzerland where Saiyok Windysport (Pumpanmuang) and Armin Black Dragon Swiss will be fighting against European opponents. It is also rumored that Goboron, the brother of “Sea Ek”, will be going to Switzerland for his honeymoon as well and will also attend this Muaythai program.

Moving to Bratislava in Slovakia, the program “Profiliga Thailand vd Slovakia”, which took place on the same date as Muaythai Tournament 5, was arranged as an audition for boxers from Eastern Europe to be selected to join the Thai Fight 67-70 Kg program in Thailand this September. The main fight was between Vladimir Konski and Lomisan Sor Kijchokchai competing for the World Muaythai Association International (154 lb) title. For the result, the Slovakian boxer stabbed his elbow into his opponent leading to victory over Lomisan in the third round.

However, the Slovakian side still maintained overall control because Vladimir Moravik also won by knocking out Diesel Lek Top Kings Boxing in the fourth round (72.6 kg). However, thanks to Wehas Top Kings Boxing was able to protect the face of Thailand by defeating Michael Tomko with the final result of 2 to 1 (81 kg).

In promoter Bryan To HangLam’s “Fight Factory and MMA 2011” program in Hong Kong on Tuesday 31 May, 2011, Saiyok will be fighting against Andre Culbil from Belarus. Also, Samkor will meet Dennis Valasa from Belarus and lastly Sao Muang In, “Sor Sopit”, will be fighting against Soisci from Italy.

Saiyok and Sor Sopit flew to Hong Kong last Sunday morning and had their weigh in at the press conference in the afternoon. Both fighters are fully fit and ready for the fights on Tuesday. For this program, many Hong Kong fans have shown their interest—about 400 fans attended the press conference and the weigh in alone! For the actual program, all VIP tickets worth about 30,000 Baht have been sold out!

As for the “Thailand Versus Challenger” program that will be held at River City Hall in Bangkok, the preparation has been going smoothly. For this program, Mr. Toli Makris recently brought the boxers Samranchai 96 Penang, Saenchainoi Pumpanmuang, Nonsai Sor Sanyakornto and Ole Or Piripinyo to take part in a photo shoot. As for the program in Stuttgart, Germany, the confirmed matches will probably be announced around the beginning of next month.

Recently, muaythai has been gaining recognition and interest from every corner of the world. For Muaythai World or International Muaythai, they are still receiving continuous attention because other than the Thai Fight program, there will also be the roll out of the Muaythai Premier League that has a large budget up to 250 million Baht!
