Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang (June 27, 2011)

07.07.2011
Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang (June 27, 2011)Hello everyone! I’m back once again and with my weekly column about international muaythai updates! For this first update of this week, I will talk about the program in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 25 June when Saenchai Sinbi Muaythai defeated his rival Kurt Finleson in the first round. Saenchai hit his opponent repeatedly and attacked relentlessly, leading to the referee to stop the fight and award the victory to the Thai fighter.

Meanwhile in Australia, no other topic is as controversial as the news of “Jasmine”, the 8 year-old daughter of John Wayne Parr. The girl became famous when she took part in her first fight, although the fame came not from her fighting skill but because of controversy about her age. The Prime Minister of Australia did not agree that it was suitable for a young and innocent girl to participate in a violent sport such as muaythai, and that she would be better suited to singing or golfing instead. Because of this complaint from the PM, the issue has become a national controversy in Australia.

It is not surprising that Jasmine has taken an interest in muaythai because both her parents, John Wayne and Angela Parr, were professional boxers. Nevertheless, the controversy surrounds her age and now John Wayne finds himself in trouble with possible child labor or children rights issues to answer to.
Recently, John Wayne Parr tried to solve this conflict and protect his name by posting on a K1-fan forum under the topic “Please help me clear my name, I’m a good dad” to express the hardship he has gone through with this controversy.

On the topic of children boxing, there are currently children boxing in many places, not only in Thailand or Japan, but there are also fights in Australia, Russia and even England. There are also videos of children boxing competitions on Youtube. For example, last April, I also took Le Siam Windysport, the 12 year-old 30-kilogram brother of Satan Muanglek, to fight with one Australian promoter’s son in Perth. In Australia, there is no worry about the safety because everything is organized just like in Muaythai amateur boxing.

Now let’s move on to International Muaythai. This Friday 1 July, Petch Yindee will present the Toyota Marathon program with 300,000 Baht money prize. The weight assigned is 70 kilograms. There will be 2 Thai boxers, Sirimongkol Sid Anupap and Super Bon, against another 6 foreign boxers. This fight is to defend the title of Pongsaklek Kaiyanghadao Gym. This program will take place at Hat Yai and Songkla with Channel 7 providing a live broadcast from 2.30 pm onwards.

In other international muaythai news, on 16 July fans will be able to follow the fight of Ekpracha Meenayothin versus Lerdsila Chumpae Tour through the live broadcast from California on channel 5.

Now moving on to Thai Fight Extreme 2011 in Hong Kong on 17 July, don’t worry because channel 3 will provide the live broadcast as usual. As for myself, I will also join the Thai Fight crew like the previous time and would like to thank the staff for providing me with my flight ticket in advance. The fight will be between the Thai stars – Buakaw, Yod Sanklai, Sudsakorm, Petch Assawin and Fabio Pinca. Saiyok will not join the event this time though.

Saiyok will remain in Thailand and is scheduled to fight in the Grand Opening of the Thailand Vs Challenger Series at River City Hall on 23 July instead. Also in this program, Saenchai Noi Pumpanmuang will be fighting against Antoine Siang Boxing. Also, Kaoklai Kaennorsing, Bovy Sor Udomson, Nonsai Sor Sanyakorn and Sarm Kor Kiatmonthep will join the Thailand Vs Challenger program as well. For the confirmed schedule of who will be fighting who, Sea Pai Elite Boxing said that he is waiting for the confirmation of his boss, Mr. Toli Makris, because he will pick the boxers such as Marco Pique, Jordan Watson, Sedric Muller who are eliminated from The Challenger series in Malaysia to fight in Thailand Vs Challenger program. This is so that the Thai boxers will be able to fight foreign boxers of the same quality.

The Challenger series has now reached the Quarter Final and will end approximately around the beginning of next month. The staff are still keeping the results a secret to prevent fans from knowing which boxers will join the program and therefore might not want to see Thailand Vs Challenger anymore. For this program, the fight will be on-air around the beginning of September. Fans can catch up with this interesting program on AXN channel. For the Thai fans or fans that live in Thailand, if we are lucky, the series might be shown on free TV, but we must wait for the confirmation about the channel in the press conference first.

Kwanniran “P’Toi” Singhsawasdee, a Muaythai trainer who lives in Denmark, will return to Thailand and remain here for a month to meet up with his friends. Next year in February, P’Toi will arrange a big project in Copenhagen where he will select famous stars from Thailand to join in this program. At the moment, he is aiming for boxers who are well-known, such as Saenchai Sinbi Muaythai, Lerdsila Chumpae Tour, Kaoklai Kaennorsing, Armin Black Dragon Swiss and Saiyok Pumpanmuang.

In news from Sea Lek SKV Gym, he said that Mr. Adam Usa, the vice-president of Muaythai in France, and Ja Kiow Pakchong will open a boxing camp under the name “MaxSport Gym & KT. Gym” on Monday 4 July. To celebrate the opening of their new camp, they have invited many French stars as well as some Hollywood stars including Jean Claude Van Damme.
