Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang (11 July, 2011)

15.07.2011
Lud Fah Muaythai with Pong Lampang (11 July, 2011)Sawasdee krab everyone! As usual, I am bringing you muaythai updates from all over the world.

At the moment, there seems to be a lot of muaythai action all around the world and many muaythai institutions have been arranging competitions. For example, last week the WPMF organized a muaythai event in Bali, Indonesia. Even before that, the WBC Muaythai also arranged a muaythai activity in Manila, Philippines. As for the WMC, the organization is in the process of arranging “The Challenger Muaythai” or “The Contender Muaythai 2” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Muaythai activities have spread very well in Southeast Asia.

Recently, Yuth Phuthong, the deputy minister of agriculture and cooperatives for Cambodia contacted some Thai boxers to participate in a fight with some Cambodian boxers in Phnom Penh in the hope that the two countries will rebuild the relationship once again after the 2 years of conflict with one another.

About the Muaythai Premier League, it will start its live broadcast on the second of September in L.A., America. The format of the program is that it is a tournament in which 8 boxers will fight to collect points. The boxers will be separated into two groups with all the boxers fighting against the boxers from the other group. Finally, winners of each group will meet in the final.

For this program, the boxers are separated into 3 weight class divisions, starting from Welterweight (147 pounds) with Saenchai Sinbi Muaythai as the assigned boxer. However, it has been announced in the latest news that Saiyok from Windysport will replace Saenchai instead so that Saenchai would not face a weight disadvantage. As for the 160 pound category, Yodsanklai Fairtex is the main boxer and for the 175 pound category, Kaoklai Kaennorsing is the selected boxer.

The boxer who makes it to the final will be flying abroad to take part in 5 fights starting from 2 September in L.A. then Brisbane and Beijing. After Beijing, he will be going to Europe to fight in Amsterdam then lastly, Bangkok. The prize for the winner in this program is $50,000 or 1.5 million Baht money prize.

In America, the Muaythai trend is booming! This Saturday 16 July (or 17 July local time), the Muaythai Stand Off program will see Thai boxers such as Ekpracha Meenayothin, Lerdsila Chumpaetour, Chonlaek Kaewsumrid and Korapetch Petchrajabhat fighting against foreign boxers. There will be a live broadcast of this program on channel 5.

In another program, on Sunday 14 August Mr. Thakoon Pongsupa and the Film Frame Company are organizing an exhibition in tribute to the King which will include boxers such as Saenchai Sinbi Muaythai and Rungravee Sasiprapa Gym to fight at the Commerce Casino in California. The official document has been signed already and the deposit made.

One more interesting program that fans should not miss is the event that will take place at the beginning of next year. Organized by Yokkao staff, the program will be in Milan, Italy and will include many famous Thai boxers such as Saenchai Sinbi Muaythai and Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee. Fights are confirmed between Buakaw Por Pramuk and Dzhaber Azkerov from Russia. Another highlight is the main fight of the program which is between Georgiolian Pretosium, the K1 boxer, and Saiyok Windysport in K1 rules. For now, they are still discussing and considering Saiyok’s performance fee, which might be anything from 1 million to 2.2 million baht.

This year is really a big year for Saiyok because at the end of the year, he will be fighting against John Wayne Parr (72 kg.) and his fee is up to 7 digits. When New Year approaches, his fight with Pretosium will again earn him millions, and he might proceed to join the Premier League program with prize money of up to 1,500,000 Baht.

For Saiyok fans who want to see him fight in Thailand before going abroad at the end of this year, he will be fighting top Australian boxer Bruce Macfie (72 kg.) on 23 July in the Grand Opening of the Thailand VS Challenger (2011) Series at River City Hall in Bangkok. Also on the same fightcard, Saenchainoi Pumpanmuang will fight against Antoine Siangboxing from France, while Kaoklai Kaennorsing will compete with Sirus Washington from the USA. Nonsai Sor Sanyakorn will fight Hong Guang from China. Bovy Sor Udomson will fight KonLek Top Kings Boxing, and Sualockkao Kor Kraiwilart will fight Valdez Gashi from Germany.

After the 6 boxing matches, Elite Boxing Promotions will arrange a Chao Phraya River sight-seeing cruise by boat for the fans. Fans and media who are interested in this program can attend the press conference of the Thailand VS Challenger (2011) Series on the 5th floor of Gaysorn Plaza in the afternoon of this upcoming 19 July, 2011.

Finally, on this Sunday 17 July in the Thai Fight Extreme 2011 program in Hong Kong, Buakaw Por Pramuk, Yodsanklai Fairtex and Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee will be fighting against three foreign boxers. Fans can follow this event through channel 3 from 16.00 – 18.00.
