![Kem Sitsongpeenong wins best boxer of 2011 award](/img/node/1067.jpg) Kem, who is 27 years old, comes from Mahasarakam. His nickname is ‘Singh’ and he once fought under the name ‘Singhtong’ when he was in the Sor Ploenchit camp. Later he switched to Sidsongpeenong’s camp which was controlled by Timatee Thammacheewa.
Kem first came to prominence when he participated in the 21st Isuzu fight of Seuk Jao Muay Thai which was broadcast on channel 3. He then became popular after beating Nopparat Kiatkumtorn on December 25, 2010.
In 2011, Kem’s second fight was on Januaray 15. But with bad luck, he lost to Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee, leaving most boxing fans shocked by such an unbelievable loss.
However, Sudsakorn was disqualified from the fight after he left the Isuzu campaign to fight in an international program without asking for permission. Kem was rather fortuitously reinstated into Isuzu fight and regained his form, beating Kongjak Sor Tuantong. Later Kem faced Prakaisang Sid Aor, and was able to win the fight easily by TKO. In the final, Kem met his old rival Nopparat Kiatkumtorn again. With his excellent skills, Kem defeated Nopparat in round 3 and won the championship.
As a result of being the champion, Kem qualified for Thai Fight 2011. He was entered in the 67-kilogram division, while Buakaw Por Pramuk took his place in the 70-kilogram division. In the first round, Kem took on Alescio Angelo, an Italian boxer. With his greater experience and muaythai expertise, Kem was able to land a heavy elbow in Angelo’s face and drew blood from his Italian opponent. The injury was so bad that the physios had to call an end to the fight because of the severity of the bleeding. As a result, Kem won by TKO in the first round.
