Challenger Cup was a Knockout!

The famous Venetian Casino in Macau was host to a memorable evening of muaythai. This was the first Super Heavyweight WMC Event held in Macau.

The first Middleweight bout was Ali Karbashi (Iran) vs Yang Yuchun (China) Iran is quickly becoming a powerhouse in Muaythai with Karbashi taking the fight in point’s decision.

The second Middleweight battle was between Australia’s Michael Siebert and Brian Douwes of Holland. It was a great muaythai fight with a very close decision awarded to Holland’s Douwes.

The third Middleweight bout was between Faisal Zakaria (New Zealand/Sudan) and Eduardo de Morais (Brasil). Faisal showed his greatly improved muaythai skill stopping Morais with a knee.

The fourth bout was a great fight between Mehmet Ozer (Turkey) and Gao Chao (China). Ozer ended the fight with TKO in the 1st round with his great kicking skills.

In the Super 4 Middleweight fight, the two KMAX veterans had the crowd on its feet. Keiji Ozaki (Japan) and Xu Yan (China) battled it out but China proved they are catching up to the best in the world, with Yan winning the fight on point’s decision.

Yashihiro from Japan v. Heung Pal Wing from Hong Kong. Wing was an IFMA gold medal winner, and he demonstrated he is a world class fighter in professional ranks by taking the fight in points decision.

Super 8 Semi-Final

Ali Karbashi (Iran) fought Brian Douwes (Holland). It was a great display by both fighters. Douwes won the decision on a narrow points margin.

Mehmet Ozer (Turkey) v. Faisal Zakaria (New Zealand/Sudan)  – Midway through the second round, Ozer came out of nowhere with a spinning roundhouse, stopping  Faisal.

The final Middleweight bout was Hong Kong’s Heung Pak Wing versus China’s Xu Yan. Wing won the WMC Middleweight  Challenger Cup.

The final Heavyweight Bout was Holland versus Turkey. Mehmet Ozer took on Brian Douwes . The Winner of the WMC Challenger Cup was Brian Douwes.

It was a fantastic event. Special thanks to the Venetian, Macau Muaythai Association, Hong Kong Muaythai Association and promoter Jeremy Chan.
