Muaythai in 25th SEA Games

"Generosity, Amity, Healthy Lifestyle" The 25th Southeast Asian Games is scheduled to be held in Vientiane, Laos, 9-18 December 2009. This will be the first time the country has ever held a Southeast Asian Games. Muaythai will be among the 25 sports competitions. Other combat sports include: Boxing, Judo, Karate, Pencak Silat, Tae Kwon Do, & Wushhu. The Southeast Asian Games (also known as the SEA Games), is a biennial multi-sport event involving participants from the 11 countries of Southeast Asia. The games are under regulation of the Southeast Asian Games Federation with supervision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia. Two white elephants which symbolized Laos once "the kingdom of million elephants" (Lan Xang) were chosen as the Official Mascots for the 2009 SEA Games. The names of the elephants are Ms. Champi and Mr. Champa representing the national flower of Laos.
