The Muaythai Association of Israel held a unique cultural event in which a team of Thai fighters were invited to partake in a Thai-Israeli Friendly Muaythai Match in Honour of Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand’s Birthday. The event received the full support of the Thai Embassy in Israel. The fights took place at an outdoor gala celebration on 12th August 2009. Both the Thai and Israeli teams gave outstanding performances: ISRAEL VS THAILAND: 1 -60 kg SURASAK JANTEK (WP) VS URIEL BEN HAMO 2 -60 kg NAKSRI PONTAVEE (IFMA World Champ) VS ARTUR MINOV 3 -71 kg BOONROD HOKRATOK VS ITAY GERSHON (WP) 4 -67 kg SIRISAK WORANAN (WP) VS LIRON HAVIV 5 -71 kg SIRISAK WORANAN VS ILYA GRAD (WP) The final score was 3-2, Winner Thailand. The amateur event was sanctioned by IFMA and the WMC. The following day, all Muaythai Clubs were invited to attend a Muaythai workshop with the Thai Team. The Thai team then travelled on to Jordan to further promote the sport and take part in a valuable cultural exchange.
