Exclusive Interview with the coach of Martial Arts Academy

08.12.2010
Exclusive Interview with the coach of Martial Arts Academy
Abdulmalik Gadzhiev has recently joined the coaches team in Martial Arts Academy. He was the
one who prepared local professional fighters to War on the Shore-3 held on November 25th at
Dusit Thani Dubai. They became winners, and Abdulmalik agreed to answer few questions so
that muaythai followers would know more about our fighters and our tournaments

Q.: What can you say about the third series of War on the Shore in comparison with episodes 1 and 2?

A: Unfortunately I didn’t have an opportunity to participate in War on the Shore 1 and 2,
but I saw them on DVD afterwards. In my opinion War on the Shore-3 was definitely held on
higher level and was more spectacular, because audiences need to be shown the real beauty
and professionalism of this martial art. That could be achieved only by bringing Thai fighters
to the tournament, because it’s their culture and almost no one can perform better. War on
the Shore-3 included 4 undercard fights with Thai fighters participating in them. Thus, it was
amazing performance.

Q.: As we all know, fighters of Martial Arts Academy – Magomed Idigov, Gadzhimirza
Osmanov, Daniel Nuamah – won their competitions. We congratulate them! Was their level
of preparation higher than of their competitors?

A: Definitely. I’m sure that our fighters were more prepared to the tournament, both physically
and psychologically. They work out a lot, and I’m proud they got Winner belts. However, it’s
only the beginning and they will get more titles soon.

Q.: In our opinion, which fight was a highlight of that evening?

A: Of course, I think that competitions with participation of Martial Arts Academy fighters were
really spectacular – they all ended with Kos, and they were worth seeing. But there was one
fight I liked most of all – Persian Mos (Iran) VS Samranchai 96 Peenung (Thailand). I give to this
fight 5 out of 5. These guys showed the real art of muaythai, and I was really excited to watch it.

Q.: What do you think of today’s level of muaythai in the UAE, and what role there can you
give to Martial Arts Academy?

A: Well, the level of awareness of muaythai in the UAE is still weak. Most of people are only
obsessed with Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Some of them even don’t see the difference between all
these kinds of sports! That’s why I’m sure that we need to let everybody know about what
we are doing and about what an amazing sport is muaythai. Martal Arts Academy not only
raises professional fighters in the region, it plays a vital role in the developing of muaythai

in the whole Gulf region. It has lots of tools from great advertising campaigns and providing
all followers with the latest worldwide muaythai news (www.muaythai.ae) to the level of
recognition and fighters preparations (training venue – Generation eXtreme).

Q.: And the last question. What do you expect from next series of War on the Shore project?

A: Today I can see the progress in the tournaments called War on the Shore. As I’ve already
mentioned before, the third’s series level was much higher than levels of previous fights. So,
the next year I hope that we’ll have more War on the Shore series within each year. And we’ll
have more tournament series then we’ll have more title and rating fights, more professional
fighters coming from different countries and more local fighters competing with them in a full
range of weight categories. Only that way we can show people that it’s not MMA, UFC, etc., but
it’s a beautiful, thrilling and hard-styled martial art, which is worth seeing and following.

Thanks and hope to see everyone on War on the Shore-4
