Vladimir Burdun, President of Dubai Martial Arts Academy announced that the UAE National Team that was established as a team of muaythai amateurs is planned to be recovered this year.

“I think it’s the best time to emphasize once again on the importance of a healthy nation in the UAE. As muaythai gives outstanding opportunities to everyone to be on the healthy side of life, the return of the UAE National Team will be vital. That will be great step in proving that people in the UAE are health-concerned as well as in opening great options for amateurs to show their skills and learn more while defending the pride of the country they live in. We can’t miss the fact that there was a problem of creating the National Team few years ago as local fighters (UAE nationals) were the minority. However, things have changed now and lots of UAE nationals join muaythai community which is indeed a good sign”, he explained.

As a prove, one of the UAE nationals, Mohammed Sanad, has shown his interest in muaythai and has been actively participating in muaythai events in the region as well as internationally – he was representing UAE National Team in 2007 and 2010 in IFMA Championships held in different parts of the word. Another UAE national, Mansoor Lootah, took part in IFMA World Championship 2007 and has already confirmed his participation in IFMA Asian Open Championship this year.

The selection to the UAE National Team has already begun as it will take part in IFMA Asian Open Championship on Kish Island from 15 to 19 April 2011.
