EB-TV is a newly developed product of Elite Boxing. The weekly 13 -minute episodes combine information with entertainment by educating the viewers about the sport and culture of muaythai in a light-hearted way. Featuring interviews with fighters, promoters and guest celebrities as well as build up to major muaythai events, the shows are filmed in HD and presented in English by Nick Chevitanondr a jocular Thai who grew up in the United States.
So far, more than ten episodes of EB-TV have been produced, and these have achieved almost 100,000 views on EB’s YouTube Channel.
Each episode of EB-TV usually has one main theme, such as the build-up to a specific muaythai event or education about a particular aspect of muaythai culture like the wai khru ritual.
It is also the intention of Elite Boxing to involve characters and celebrities who are not directly related to muaythai but who have an interest in the sport, such as the German Councillor in Bangkok and Sonia Couling, a leading Thai model and actress. Involving these characters has been part of Elite Boxing’s strategy to rebrand muaythai, which has traditionally been viewed in Thailand as a sport for the working classes.
Elite Boxing has achieved this aim of giving muaythai a new image and making it more popular with a much wider demographic, both in Thailand and internationally.
