A Foothold In The New World

A Foothold In The New WorldA FOOTHOLD IN THE NEW WORLD
Miami, Florida -- February 19, 2011

As part of its continued expansion plans, Elite Boxing has established its first foothold in the huge North American fight market by reaching an agreement with Florida-based Elite Promotions to incorporate a Thailand VS USA superfight into the 2011 South Florida Fight Expo from February 24th to 27th in Miami, Florida.

The 2011 South Florida Fight Expo is billed as ‘the largest event to ever happen in the fight world’ and it is certainly not hard to see why. Organized by Elite Promotions, the expo will feature over 120 exhibitors presenting a wide range of fight industry-related products and services, ranging from clothing lines, equipment companies, nutrition companies, health centers, MMA gyms, boxing gyms, health clubs, and medical professionals.

But what really sets the 2011 South Florida Fight Expo apart from other Expos throughout North America, are the fights. Over 40 boxing and MMA bouts are scheduled to take place during the health and fitness extravaganza, and it is hoped that at least one muaythai match-up will be added to that impressive fight card as a Thailand VS USA superfight is part of the agreement between Elite Boxing and Elite Promotions.

Both of Elite Boxing’s founders, Toli Makris and Seth Fishman, are currently in the US looking to develop partnerships and affiliations with high-profile local promoters as they look for opportunities to bring the Thailand VS Challenger Series into the American market.

In Elite Promotions and its charismatic founder, Jeff Gibson, they appear to have found the perfect solution. “We are absolutely delighted to have reached an agreement with Jeff,” said Makris. “He has so much experience, as a very successful fighter of many disciplines, as well as a promoter.”

Gibson is, in fact, a world heavyweight kickboxing champion, a 7th degree black belt, a five time national karate champion, a two time golden glove boxing champion, and an inductee into the International Karate Hall Of Fame. “He is as passionate about what he does as we are,” added Fishman, “and I am sure that an affiliation with Jeff and Elite Promotions would be great for us and TVC.”

Although an agreement has been reached for Elite Boxing to add a Thailand VS USA superfight at the Expo, the fighters are as yet unconfirmed as difficulties with visas and fighter injuries threaten to ruin EB’s American debut.

Whether a TVC fight can be arranged at the Expo or not, there appear to be exciting times ahead for EB in the US now that it has established its first foothold with such a high-profile player.
