The next four weeks will be extremely busy for IFMA as the event calendar is stacked with large-scale competitions. There will be three separate major events starting with the Asian Martial Arts Games (AMAGs), organized by the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) in Bangkok from 25 April – 3 May. The event will be under the IFMA umbrella and its Asian arm, FAMA. Twenty countries are expected to compete in the sport of Muaythai.

The Arafura games mascot has long been the lovable “Rocky the Wallaby”. Rocky the rock wallaby first bounded onto the scene at the very first Arafura Sports Festival in 1991.
The rock wallaby is a member of the greater wallaby clan that lives across the Top End of the Northern Territory. Like their kangaroo cousins, wallabies are noted for their athletic ability and can cover ground at great speed.

Muaythai has long been involved in many charity projects and has a long standing philosophy to give back in many ways. Sportaccord featured a special workshop on philanthropy in sport with special speakers such as Andre Agassi, Kathleen Behrens, Andrea Jager, Susan Muchin, Chris Wadell. The symposium was opened by world famous ESPN journalist, Linda Cohn.

IFMA the world governing body for amateur muaythai was again invited to be part of the annual Sportaccord exhibition which is a key component of the conference. The sport of muaythai is included in many multi-sport competitions and participating in Sportaccord supports IFMA’s mission to become IOC recognized.
