Over thirty European countries are in full preparation for the upcoming European Championships in Liepaja, Latvia which is certainly a highlight on the IFMA event calendar. The Latvian Muaythai Federation has done a fantastic job organising this event fully supported by the Latvian government. May 16th and 17th will see the first Spanish athlete qualifier for the IFMA World Championships. The event will be hosted by Templo Thai Muay Thai gym, located n the Mediterranean seaside and next to Barcelona.
More than 50 fighters will be vying for a spot on the National Team to represent Spain in this 2-day event. Attendants will also have the opportunity to take a referee seminar.

Over 6000 people filled the Kelantan Stadium forming an atmosphere never seen before in Malaysia for the Malaysian Contender qualifier. The event was filmed by AXN, the Asian broadcaster for The Contender Asia. The place was packed with Contender celebrities with the show’s Executive Producer and host in attendance. The first fight of the super 8 was Kudin VS The Police Champion Tengku. Tengku showed his lighting hand speed and stopped Kudin.

The Asian Martial Arts Games has been RESCHEDULED for 6th -14th June 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand. The event was ORIGINALLY scheduled for 15 April – 3 May. The AMAG organising committee with the blessing of the Olympic Council of Asia sent notice regarding the schedule change to all of the 45 Asian NOC’s last week.
